Bright Abbott is a main character in the first, second, third and fourth seasons of the WB drama series Everwood. He is the son of Harold and Rose Abbott, and Amy Abbott is his younger sister. He is portrayed by Chris Pratt.

Background[]

Bright grew up in Everwood, Colorado with his loving parents Harold and Rose Abbott, and his younger sister Amy. They were a very happy family, his parents had a solid relationship and he had a typical siblings rivalry with his sister. Bright met his best friend Colin Hart in school at a young age and the two stayed close through school.

Bright and Colin both played on the basketball and football varsity teams, and became very popular among their peers. They both had a lot of options when it came to girls and Bright was disappointed when Colin became interested in Amy. This brought Bright closer to his sister though, due to the three of them hanging out more often.

On the fourth of July in 2001, Colin stuck a flask from his fathers liquor cabinet and along with Bright drank throughout the day. Colin then accepted an offer to drag race with a few guys from school in the woods. Bright wanted to go home but Colin convinced him to take a turn driving and he ended up crashing the car. When the police arrived they assumed at Colin had been driving the truck, and Bright let them believe that while Colin was in a coma.

Personality[]

Bright is a naturally nice guy, but among his peers he can sometimes show a mean streak. Due to his popularity, he hangs out with the athletes and can be an antagonist towards those who are on a lower social class.

Initially Bright and his friends bully Ephram Brown with immature pranks, often trying to trick him into believing that Amy wanted to date him. A lot of this behaviour stems from his guilt about Colin's accident, and when Bright confesses his responsibility he is able to get past his aggressive tendencies. Despite their rivalry Bright is protective of his younger sister Amy, and when his friends ignored his wish that they leave her alone, he separated himself from the group.

Physical Description[]

Bright is a good looking guy with white skin and blue eyes. He has curly light brown hair that he keeps at a medium length with highlights. Bright dresses casually with baggy t-shirts and jackets, with loose fitting jeans and sneakers.
